1. What Qatra is

Qatra ("Qatra", "we", "us") is a free, non-profit service that helps people who urgently need blood find nearby voluntary blood donors in Pakistan. Qatra is operated by Qatra, an independent non-commercial volunteer project, not yet incorporated, based in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

By creating an account or using Qatra, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Qatra.

Qatra is provided fee sabilillah — free, forever, for everyone. We do not charge donors or patients, we do not sell your data, and we do not facilitate payment for blood.

2. The most important thing on this page

Qatra is a way for people to find each other. It is not a hospital, not a blood bank, and not a medical service.

  • We do not collect, test, store, transport, or supply blood.
  • We do not give medical advice and we do not make clinical decisions.
  • Every donation happens at a licensed hospital or blood bank, which is responsible for donor screening, mandatory testing (HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, syphilis and malaria), collection, and transfusion.
  • We do not verify anyone's medical fitness to donate. The licensed centre does.
  • We do not guarantee that a donor will be found, that anyone who accepts will actually arrive, or that any donation will take place.

3. Who may use Qatra

You may use Qatra if you:

  • are at least 13 years old to hold an account;
  • are at least 17 years old to register as a donor (and meet the eligibility criteria the licensed centre applies — typically age 17–65, weight at least 50 kg, and a minimum interval since your last donation);
  • give accurate information about yourself; and
  • use Qatra for its intended purpose — helping someone get the blood they need.

You must have a working Pakistani mobile number. One person, one account.

4. Blood is never bought or sold. This is not negotiable.

Buying or selling blood is a criminal offence in Pakistan. Under the provincial Blood Transfusion Safety Acts, donation must be voluntary, anonymous and non-remunerated, and the penalty for paid donation reaches imprisonment, a substantial fine, and is non-bailable. The prohibition applies to a person acting "either by himself or through another person."

Therefore, on Qatra you must never:

  • offer, request, demand, hint at, or negotiate any payment, reward, gift, or benefit in exchange for blood — money, mobile credit, transport "fees", gifts, favours, or anything else of value;
  • act as a broker or agent arranging paid donations;
  • post contact details or messaging-app handles in order to move a payment discussion off the platform.

Offering a donor reimbursement for a specific, actual travel cost is a grey area we do not host. Keep it off Qatra.

We monitor for payment-related language, we remove content that implies payment, and we permanently ban accounts involved — on the first occurrence, with no warning. Where appropriate we will report the matter to the authorities.

If someone asks you for money for blood, report them in the app immediately.

5. What else you must not do

You must not:

  • create fake or exaggerated blood requests, including requests for a patient who does not exist or a hospital you are not at;
  • impersonate anyone — a patient, an attendant, a doctor, a hospital, a charity, or Qatra itself;
  • harass, threaten, intimidate, or repeatedly contact anyone you were matched with, or contact them for any purpose other than arranging the donation;
  • use Qatra to solicit dates, relationships, sales, donations to other causes, religious or political recruitment, or any commercial purpose;
  • misuse anyone's personal information — you receive another person's name, phone number and location only to arrange a donation. Do not save it, share it, publish it, or use it for anything else;
  • share medical documents (including any requisition slip you receive through Qatra) with anyone outside the match;
  • attempt to identify, locate, or approach a person outside the app;
  • scrape, bulk-download, reverse-engineer, or automate access to Qatra;
  • attempt to bypass a ban, including by registering a new account with a different number or device;
  • interfere with the security or operation of the service.

Do not use Qatra to summon help in a life-threatening emergency instead of calling emergency services or going to a hospital. Qatra depends on strangers volunteering; it can never be relied on as an emergency response.

6. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to your phone number secure. Tell us immediately at support@qatras.app if you believe someone else is using your account.

We may suspend or permanently ban an account — with or without notice — if we reasonably believe it has been used to violate these Terms, to defraud or endanger someone, or where a ban is necessary to protect other users.

To prevent banned users from simply re-registering, we record a one-way hash of the banned phone number and device identifier. We use these only to enforce the ban. This is described in our Privacy Policy.

If you believe a ban was a mistake, contact support@qatras.app and we will review it.

7. Content you post

You keep ownership of everything you post — your request details, chat messages, and any documents you upload. You give us a limited licence to store and display that content only so the service can work: showing your request to compatible donors, delivering your messages, and showing your requisition slip to the donor who is deciding whether to help you.

You confirm you have the right to post what you post. If you upload a document about another person (for example a patient's requisition slip), you confirm you are entitled to share it for this purpose.

We may remove content that violates these Terms.

8. Contacting other users

Qatra offers in-app chat and in-app voice calls so you can coordinate without sharing your phone number. We do not record or listen to your calls.

We keep chat and match records as a safety record — so that a dispute, a report, or an accusation can be investigated fairly. Retention periods are in the Privacy Policy.

You can block or report anyone, at any point, from anywhere in the app.

9. What we do not promise

Qatra is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent Pakistani law allows.

We do not promise that:

  • a compatible donor exists, will be found, will respond, or will arrive;
  • any information another user gives you is true — including their blood group, identity, age, health, or intentions;
  • the service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free;
  • notifications will be delivered (they depend on your device, network and operator).

Blood group and medical eligibility shown in Qatra are self-reported by users and are never a substitute for testing at the licensed centre. The centre re-tests every donation. Always rely on the centre, never on the app.

10. Limits on our responsibility

Qatra is a free non-profit service. We provide it to help people, and we cannot take on the risks of what happens between the people it introduces.

To the fullest extent permitted by Pakistani law, we are not responsible for:

  • anything a user does or fails to do — including not arriving, giving false information, causing harm, or committing a crime;
  • any medical outcome, including anything arising from a transfusion;
  • any decision made by a hospital, blood bank, or clinician;
  • a request that is not fulfilled, or a delay in finding a donor;
  • loss of data, service downtime, or a failed notification.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.

11. Your responsibility to us

You agree to be responsible for any claim brought against us arising from your misuse of Qatra, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of anyone's rights or of the law.

12. Reporting problems, and how we respond

Report content or a user in the app, or email support@qatras.app. We aim to respond within 72 hours, and faster for reports involving safety or payment for blood.

We act on reports when we have actual knowledge of unlawful content. We do not proactively monitor all communications, and Pakistani law does not require us to.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Qatra after that means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Ending your use

You can stop using Qatra and delete your account and data at any time: Profile → Settings → Delete account in the app, or online at https://qatras.app/delete-account — no reinstall needed.

We may end or suspend your access as described in section 6.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts at Lahore have jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any protection available to you under mandatory Pakistani consumer law.
